Baldwin Park is located on 1,000 acres just 5 minutes from downtown Orlando and 8 miles away from the Orlando International Airport, built on a former Orlando Naval Training Center site, a sort of college training center for sailors. Over 650,000 naval recruits received training before the training center was closed down in 1999. The plan was to turn the former naval facility into a traditional neighborhood that would compliment the surrounding communities. The goal is to have 4,100 completed in Baldwin Park, 1 million square feet of commercial and retail space and over 8,000 residents.
