The plan to build ChampionsGate began in 1987 with the purchase of 137 acres of land near the Osceola-Polk County lines.  The first wave of construction was in the year 2000 when the first Publix shopping plaza opened to the public.  The golf courses were completed in October of 2001 and the Omni Orlando Resort was complete in 2004.
